Hi Reader, Each week on the podcast Ugly, Irresponsible & Childish, two marketing industry pros talk about the unrelenting pursuit of creativity and the people, work, and culture that celebrate it. I was happy to join Marc Levy and Jeremy Baka to talk about bringing some creativity to your job search. In this conversation, I introduce my framework for developing the strategic foundation to your job search. Through piloting this new offering, I've learned that the Moment/Impact/Edge framework is particularly useful for mid- and senior-career professionals looking to return to full-time employment. You can learn more about my 90-minute, one-on-one workshop offering here.
“I want to thank you again for such a thoughtful and insightful session … I gained so much knowledge about myself, my strengths, and ways to communicate my brand. I’ve started this new job with more confidence beacuse of it!” - Career Positioning Workshop Participant
To celebrate my appearance on Ugly, Irresponsible, & Childish, I've also made the Career Positioning Workbook available as a standalone product. Now, if you listen to the episode and feel like you've got a pretty good handle on Moment/Impact/Edge, there's a DIY option. This self-guided workbook shows you how to deploy your positioning statement across key areas like your LinkedIn profile, résumé, cover letters, networking introductions, and more.
The modern job search is particularly grueling and de-humanizing. If you or someone you know have lost job stability, please know that the layoffs, budget cuts, AI panic, endless restructuring — none of that is a referendum on your talent or your value. It's a reckoning with business models that stopped working and leaders who waited too long to adapt. However, you can't stand out in a crowded talent marketplace if you've outsourced the strategic foundation of your search to a chatbot. I hope through my Career Positioning offerings and my conversation with Marc and Jeremy, I've inspired you to approach the job of marketing *you* like a brand strategist. And if there's anything else I can do to help out, just reply to this email. Remember: consistency builds recognition; specificity builds memorability. You got this, Nancy |
